R.U.M. and Herb's friendship growsA high-value native American herb, grown for its unique medicinal properties, has been responding well to regular 7.5mm/L doses of R.U.M., according to prominent New England herb growers Barbara Beatson and Alanna Mason. Also known as purple coneflower, Echinacea Purpurea is the basis of many popular cures in Europe and West Germany in particular. Barbara and Alanna claim that not only has R.U.M. increased their yield (seeds, roots, leaves) by 30% but the seedlings also seem impervious to 'transplant shock', the bane of horticulturists and plant nurseries. A Word from Our MakerG'day, Choc Irwin speaking! Wife Helen thinks that with phones getting smaller and my ear getting bigger I'm a certainty to lose my mobile phone soon. Honest, Nick and the boys out at our Beaulieu worm farm reckon if Telstra could see me in action on the phone, they'd want to breed from me! BioTech Labs in Brisbane recently came up with some results we've all been anxiously waiting for. We've always known that one of the key benefits of liquid earthworms castings was their ability to promote microbial activity. Which means that R.U.M. must bring helpful bacteria to the soil. Well, a R.U.M. sample tested at 190,000 CFu/ml. That means an awful lot of the little wrigglers. No wonder the plants love it. Pattie Tucker of 'Newlands' Edgeroi, NSW, tells us that she used 5L R.U.M./ha on her mung beans. She is delighted with her triple premium export quality beans and the marked increase in gross margin since turning to R.U.M. Good to hear that Ken Dugan of 'Willewatina' Caroona, NSW, had a big result from 6L R.U.M./ha on his corn. Ken put a foliar application on 30ha of a 100ha crop and was pleasantly surprised when it out-yielded the untreated area by 1.25 tonnes/ha. Since starting to use R.U.M. on his 600 lychee trees and his block of native trees, George Curcuruto of Townsville has had trouble having a 'sleep-in' on Sunday mornings. In his excitement, the other Sunday George phoned at a sprightly 6:30am to tell us of the great results he has been getting with R.U.M.! Alan Hardman, our W.A. rep called with the news that some of his customers, Tim and Chris Higham, are amazed at the root growth in their barley and canola crops after sowing in 5L/ha of R.U.M. Greg Edwards of Clermont, QLD, was very surprised with the vigorous root development on his R.U.M.-treated wheat, especially as the season has been so dry up there! Farmers from near and far have been inspecting the difference. Cheers! Choc.
