G'day, Peter Irwin here.
Sadly our Dad and R.U.M. founder Choc Irwin passed away on February 1st this year after a long illness.
Choc is survived by Helen, his wife of over 40 years, 4 married kids and 10 grandchildren.
It was Choc's hard work and persistence in pursuing an idea that laid the foundation for the success of Beaulieu R.U.M.. And he always acknowledged the debt he owed Helen for her support in the 'dark days' when sceptics were out in force.
Now, in 2006, there are thousands of farmers and horticulturists across Australia and overseas who can thank Choc for the improvement in their soils.
A few years ago I remember some agronomist-types telling farmers that R.U.M. was only good for growing a few flowers and vegies. Well, didn't the old man laugh - because at the time our biggest R.U.M. user was growing 50,000 acres of wheat... bloody big gardener!
Today, Beaulieu R.U.M. Pty. Ltd. is a thriving family-operated agribusiness with a strong base and a bright future.
A tribute to a visionary.
